EEL 4242C - Power Electronics

 

Catalog Description: (3 cr) Circuit topologies, analysis, design and simulation of electronic circuits such as power supplies and motor drives. Laboratory.

Prerequisites: Electronics I

Textbook: Fundamentals of Power Electronics, 2nd edition. Robert W. Erickson & Dragan Maksimovic. (2001) ISBN number: 0-7923-7270-0

Course Objective: Learn the basics of power electronic components, circuits, and systems. Design power electronic circuits and systems to meet desired needs. Engage in life-long learning.

Professional Component: 3 credits of Engineering Design

  • EE2 - knowledge of mathematics, basic and engineering sciences necessary to analyze and design complex systems

Class Schedule:  2 classes per week of 50 minutes each, 1 3-hour laboratory section
