Admission Information For Transfer Students

Students who transfer to UF with less than 60 semester hours earned are placed in the freshman admission pool with newly entering freshman. The admission criteria (SAT scores, high school grade point average, etc) for freshmen are rather high.

The chance of being admitted with at least 60 credit hours is very good if you have completed all of the pre-professional courses and met the admission requirement. If you meet these requirements, but have significantly more than 60 semester hours earned, you are also likely to be admitted, but all of your upper division course work may not be accepted.

If you have completed 60 hours, but have not completed the required pre-professional courses, you must finish those courses with the required grades before you are admitted to the department. These courses can be completed at your current institution or a Florida community college.

When transferring between schools, it is very important that you keep ALL of your course syllabi so that the registrar and department advisor can verify the content of your courses and give you proper credit. You should also keep a copy of a catalog that contains a description of your courses.

If you attend a Florida community college, you must be awarded the Associate of Arts degree prior to transferring to UF. To assist you with planning your courses, the UF College of Engineering has developed a Program of Study that is specific to each community college. These programs which contain detailed course and grade requirements, are designed to meet the AA requirement at each community college and to prepare you for upper division admission.

We cannot admit transfer students in the Summer B Term.  If you are interested in starting in the summer, you must apply for Summer C.
