Integrated Optics Laboratory

 

The Integrated Optics Laboratory, directed by Dr. Ramakant Srivastava, focuses on design, fabrication, and testing of optical waveguides made on glass and silicon substrates with such processes as polymer deposition, ion-exchange, and thermal deposition. The applications include optical communications and chemical sensing using such effects as optical gain, surface-plasmon resonance, and fluorescence. The facilities include several gas and semiconductor laser sources, a prism coupler, an intensity pattern characterization set up, and a spectroscopic measurement system.
