Change Major

For Current UF Undergraduate Students Interested in Changing Their Major to the ECE Department

Change major students are evaluated based on their successful completion of or in-progress status of the pre-professional courses:

PHY2048 + lab Physics with Calculus 1 (4 credits)
PHY2049 + lab Physics with Calculus 2 (4 credits)
CHM2045 + lab General Chemistry 1 (4 credits)
CHM2046 (Only for Computer Engineering Major) General Chemistry 2 (3 credits)

*Note: Students may substitute any General Education course with a designation of P or B for CHM2046.

A grade of C or higher (first 2 attempts, withdrawals included) and an overall 2.5 cumulative grade point average in the pre-professional courses is required for admittance to the Electrical Engineering major.

A grade of C or higher (first 2 attempts, withdrawals included) and a 2.5 cumulative grade point average in the pre-professional courses is required for admittance to the Computer Engineering major.

Change Major Process

  1. Review the curriculum and semester plans for the BS in Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering
  2. Degree shop by major in ONE.UF to review your academic record on the degree audit
  3. To change your major to the electrical engineering major, please email the academic advisor (ntyoung@ufl.edu)  to schedule an appointment to officially switch.  In the subject line, use “Change of Major Request to BSEE program.”  In the email body please include your UFID number and semester you began at the University of Florida.
  4. To change your major to the computer engineering major, you may find it helpful to review the CpE Info Packet in order to complete the CpE Change Major Form. The Computer Engineering advisor will contact you to schedule a meeting to discuss switching to the computer engineering major.
