Information on this page is provided for Faculty and Research personnel to reference procedural objectives to comply with legal directives when accessing Export Controlled Technology.
The UF Office of Security and Compliance along with the UF Division of Sponsored Programs should be consulted once you have an interest in Software or Technology that is bound by legal contracts to ensure compliance with State and University policy. Some contracts will require official employment status with the University in order to meet vendor/manufacture and State/Federal requirements. The Research Offices linked above will have up-to-date information regarding this.
The primary focus of this page involves Process Design Kits or PDK and is typically licensed under a Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA) as the PDK contains proprietary information about the manufacturer’s process. Proprietary information and technology is subject to export control regulations and can require a license for foreign nationals. While the manufacture or approved vendor will have accompanying documents that bind individuals to an agreement there may also be University managed documentation per Campus Policies prior to accessing the technology.

Once an individual has been approved for access from the Offices of Research the next step would be to coordinate Information Technology requirements starting with Local IT within the Department.
