COMBINED DEGREE PROGRAM
The Combined Degree Program allows qualified UF ECE undergraduates to double-count technical elective credit hours to both their BS and MS degree in ECE at UF. Students in the combined degree program can begin graduate course work in their senior year. This program is only available to current UF students.
Please note that graduate courses taken before admission to the combined degree program can not be counted towards both degrees.
To be eligible for the combined degree program, students must satisfy the following minimum criteria:
- Must have an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.3
- Applicants with a 3.3 to 3.59 GPA are eligible to double count up to 6 credit hours
- Applicants with a GPA 3.6 or higher are eligible to double count up to 12 credit hours
- EE Students: Must have completed at least seven EEL-prefixed core courses and 2 EE labs.
- CPE Students: Must have completed at least seven core courses, with four of them being EEL-prefixed courses.

Please be aware that admission to the Combined Degree Program is not admission into the Graduate Program. Don’t fill out the UF Graduate Admission application at this time! You will need to complete this during your graduation term.
Students will be notified via email regarding the admission decision. Once admitted, students will be sorted into one of two tracks:
- Honors Track: The Honors Track is for those students whose undergraduate grade point average is 3.3 or higher. It allows double-counting of 6 graduate credit hours for the bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
- High Honors Track: The High Honors Track is for those students whose undergraduate grade point average is 3.6 or higher. It allows double-counting of 12 graduate credit hours for the bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
- If admitted to the combined degree program, the student will need to fill out a Combined Degree Request Form via DocuSign. This form must be completed in order to finalize your enrollment into the program.
- Students will double-count graduate courses during their final two or three semesters of the undergraduate program. Only courses where the student earned a grade of “B” or higher are eligible to transfer to the MS program.
- In the semester the student graduates with his/her undergraduate degree, the student will receive a second combined degree request form to report any changes from the initial form. Only courses listed on your form are eligible to be double-counted. Failure to provide a final, accurate list may result in an inability to have your credits transferred to the graduate program. The department will not file a petition to retroactively count courses that were not on your combined degree request form.
- During the undergraduate graduation term, the student must also complete the UF Graduate School Application and submit the $37 application fee. Combined Degree Students do not need to submit a statement of purpose or letters of recommendation.
- Admission to the graduate program is not guaranteed. We will still review the application to ensure that the student performed well through the remainder of their undergraduate program. After admission to the graduate program, eligible credits will be transferred over.
