Research at ECE Florida falls along four major divisions as well as a number of institutes, centers, and labs.

Computer Engineering

Computer Engineering (CpE) is a discipline that embodies the science and technology of design, construction, implementation, and maintenance of software and hardware components of computer systems and computer-controlled equipment.

Electrophysics

This division spans a wide area of research involving electromagnetic fields and their application. Includes optical fiber, photonics devices, and lightning. Research also focuses on the behavior, fabrication, and design of devices.

Electronics

This division covers a broad range of topics from the manufacturing of integrated circuits to their applications in real world systems.

Signals & Systems

Studies in this field are related to the transmission, creation, manipulation, and understanding of signals and systems.

From AI & machine learning to the Internet of Things, from nano devices to hardware and systems security, research by ECE faculty, staff, and students is carried out in these laboratories, centers, and programs.

  • Department leadership proudly inducted the inaugural class of the ECE Hall of Fame at a gala celebration held in Malachowsky Hall on Monday, April 22.
  • ECE FLORIDA is excited to host an engaging event on Tuesday, April 23. As part of our annual External Advisory Board meeting, Sachio Semmoto Chair of ECE Mark M. Tehranipoor will moderate a panel discussion featuring many of the luminaries inducted into the ECE Hall of Fame the previous evening.
  • ECE Florida is honored to host Dr. Walden (Wally) Rhines for an informal Q&A session Monday, April 22 at 11:00 am in the Nvidia Auditorium in Malachowsky Hall.
  • Dr. Shadi Dayeh is a professor in the ECE Department at the University of California-San Diego. He presents "Mapping the Human Brain with High Spatiotemporal Resolution" Thursday, April 18 at 1:00pm in LAR 234.
  • Dr. Markondeyaraj Pulugurtha is an associate professor at Florida International University. He presents "Heterogeneous Power, RF, Digital and Sensor Component Integration Technologies with Advanced Packaging" Friday, April 19 at 1:00pm in MALA 5050.
