The international society for optics and photonics, SPIE, has selected Dr. Alina Zare as a 2018 Rising Researcher for Defense & Commercial Sensing (DCS).

After a rigorous examination of Dr. Zare’s research, service, and leadership activities, SPIE determined that her work:

  • showed a record of service and leadership
  • advanced scientific or product development in a significant way
  • provided a clear picture of how their work fits in to the broader scientific picture

While the SPIE website only specified one particular paper, a total of six papers co-authored by Dr. Zare were considered:
