Graduate Funding

Graduate Funding

Most students admitted to the graduate program in ECE are awarded some funding for graduate studies. Students who fill out an application to the ECE Department by the application deadline are automatically considered for all available funding – no additional forms are required. Applicants to the MS and PhD programs in ECE are eligible for the following:

Academic Achievement Award Scholarship

International and non-Florida master’s students are eligible. The award provides partial tuition assistance for up to three semesters. The award amount is determined by the College of Engineering and changes from year to year based on available funding.

Graduate Research Assistantship

All graduate students are eligible. Research assistantships provide a full tuition waiver, health insurance, and minimum $28,000 per year stipend. RA assignments typically involve a commitment of 20 hours per week in your research advisor’s lab. RAs are assigned individually by ECE faculty members. If there is a particular faculty member you’re interested in doing research with, it’s recommended that you contact them via email. Please visit our faculty directory for our faculty members’ research interests and contact information.

Dean’s Research Award

Domestic PhD students are eligible. This award provides a full tuition waiver, health insurance, and minimum $30,000 stipend, renewable for four years. Assignments involve a 20-hour per week research or teaching commitment.

Please note that students in the BS/MS program are not eligible for graduate tuition waivers. Undergraduates interested in joining a research lab are eligible for hourly positions; contact individual faculty members to find out if they have openings.
