Request for Supervised Teaching

Request for Supervised Teaching

ECE Ph.D. students interested in pursuing a career in academia can register for Supervised Teaching hours to fulfill their professional development requirement. Supervised teaching exposes Ph.D. students to the rigors of teaching in a higher education setting. Students will help instructors manage, teach, grade, interact with students outside of class and, if appropriate, plan and give a lecture in the course. Supervised Teaching is meant to act as an apprenticeship program in which students learn to plan and deliver lectures, how to organize course topics, and other tasks related to teaching a course under the supervision of an ECE faculty member.

Students MUST submit their request for supervised teaching by the following deadlines:

Fall Semester July 2
Spring Semester November 15
Summer Semester March 30

Requests submitted after this timeline will be denied. Students must submit the below application in order to be considered for supervised teaching. Students will be paired with a faculty member by the ECE Associate Chair. Supervised Teaching assignments are made based on student preference, course enrollment and departmental need. Supervised teachers are not allowed to be paid TAs or graders for the course.
